During the day, we're facing the Sun, we don't see, because we're blinded by its light. During the day we can see everything, even the darkest corners, and shadows contrast with the light. But oh, during the night we face the universe, shadopws form in the dark itself, darkening it even more. We look but we do not see. It's darkness everywhere and things are quiet and calm and secret and obscure. And, indeed, "...the things of the night cannot be explained in the day,...".
